What Is a Random Wheel?
A random wheel is an online picker that randomly selects one entry from a list of choices. Each enabled entry appears as a wheel segment, and the pointer identifies the selected result when the spin finishes.
Use it when several options work for you and you want a quick way to choose. You can edit the list and spin again whenever you need another result.
How to Use the Random Wheel
- Add your choicesEnter activities, foods, tasks, or other options.
- Review the entriesEdit, delete, or shuffle your list before spinning.
- Press SpinThe picker selects one enabled entry.
- See the selected resultThe winner appears when the wheel stops.
- Keep or remove the winner and spin againKeep it eligible or remove that entry before another spin.
You can also reset the wheel, view previous results, and use fullscreen mode when displaying it to a group.
What Can You Put on a Random Wheel?
Add any short text choices you want to select from. These can be familiar options or a list you create yourself.
The current limit is 500 entries, with up to 200 characters per entry. Short labels and smaller lists are easier to read on the wheel.

How Does Our Random Wheel Choose a Result?
The result is selected first, then the wheel animation visually reveals it. The animation does not create the random result.
When you press Spin, the picker selects one enabled entry using random values from your browser’s Web Crypto API. It then calculates the final wheel rotation so that the pointer lands on that entry’s segment.
How the Random Wheel Works
- Add ChoicesEnabled entries form your list.
- Press SpinYou start the selection.
- Secure Random SelectionYour browser supplies random values.
- Winner ChosenOne enabled entry is selected.
- Wheel AnimatesThe calculated rotation reveals the winner.
- Result DisplayedThe pointer and result identify the entry.
Does Every Choice Have an Equal Chance?
When each enabled choice appears once, every choice has an equal selection chance. The chance for each entry is one divided by the number of enabled entries.
- 50%2 unique entries · 50% each
- 25%4 unique entries · 25% each
- 20%5 unique entries · 20% each
- 10%10 unique entries · 10% each
What Happens With Duplicate Choices?
Duplicate entries count separately and therefore increase that choice’s combined probability. A repeated label still represents a separate entry in the list.

Is the Random Wheel Fair?
The selection method gives each enabled entry an equal chance. It uses your browser’s Web Crypto API and rejects random values that would make some entries more likely when mapped to the list.
This rejection step avoids modulo bias: an uneven mapping of random numbers to choices. If secure random selection is unavailable, the tool reports an error instead of choosing through a weaker fallback.
Can You Remove a Winner and Spin Again?
Yes. Choose Remove Winner after a spin to remove the winning entry before selecting again. Spin Again keeps that entry eligible, so it can win another time.
If the same label appears more than once, removing a winner removes the selected entry; other entries with that label stay in the wheel. Previous results remain in winner history.
Does the Random Wheel Save My Choices?
The wheel saves its entries, settings, and result history locally in your browser when browser storage is available. Return using the same browser to continue with your saved list.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Random Wheel really random?
Yes. The tool uses your browser’s Web Crypto API to randomly select from the enabled entries. The result is selected before the spinning animation begins.
Is the Random Wheel free to use?
Yes. You can use the Random Wheel online for free to add choices, spin the wheel, and pick random results.
Can I add my own choices?
Yes. Replace the existing options with your own choices. You can add, edit, or delete entries before spinning.
Can I add the same choice more than once?
Yes. Each duplicate counts as a separate entry, so adding the same choice multiple times increases its chance of being selected.
Can I remove a result after spinning?
Yes. You can remove the winning entry before spinning again when you want to choose different results without keeping that entry in the wheel.
Can I spin the wheel more than once?
Yes. Spin as many times as needed. You can keep all entries or remove a winner before the next spin.
Does the Random Wheel save my choices?
The wheel stores its state in your browser so your choices and settings can remain available when you return using the same browser. Clearing browser storage or switching browsers or devices can affect saved data.
How many choices can I add?
The Random Wheel currently supports up to 500 entries, with each entry limited to 200 characters. Smaller lists are generally easier to read directly on the wheel.
